Postponed from an earlier date - we will covering the following:

November 4, 2012
November Tech Team Times will focus on curriculum content for your classrooms from Discovery Education and Brain Pop. We will use this information for lesson planning and developing “hooks”.
Technique 12 -- Hook it.
The "hook" Doug speaks of is called the "anticipatory set" in educational circles, but "hook" is a good vernacular way of expressing "anticipatory set." It's the thing that grabs, or "hooks" your attention and helps to focus you on the topic at hand. It could be a story, a puzzle, a picture, or a riddle that grabs your student's attention and then leads them into the topic at hand. (Teach Like a Champion)

Refer to email dated 10/15/12 for all the details.

Portfolio artfifacts at the middle school:

· Middle- 4 integrated lessons per subject (artifact, student reflection which also includes GLE’s, NETS-S and NETS-T) (Note: 8th grade would use the last lesson to gather artifacts for their final portfolio)
Specialist – 1 or more integrated lesson
Increase 8th grade ICT competencies by 10%
All artifacts should follow uniform file naming- here is an example:

Artifact Filename: Electricity-Sci-2,4,5 (Topic-Subject-ICT standards met)

Reflection Filename (if there is a separate reflection document):

Electricity-Sci-Reflection (Topic-Subject-Reflection)

Artifact Filename: Fairytales-LA-1,3,5 (Topic-Subject-ICT Standard met)

Reflection Filename (if there is a separate reflection document): Fairytales-LA-Reflection
